My A/C is set at 76 degrees 24/7. I work from home and my 93 y/o mother lives with us. We use the ceiling fan as supplemental cooling, if the air “feels” too warm. We no not touch the thermostat. This works well especially in the rooms that face the East. PS we live in Florida.

Yes, but will the fan and it’s motor benefit (last longer) if allowed to run continuously rather than star topping and re-starting frequently?

I’d think a fan could push warm air out or draw cooler air in from outdoors or a cooler/hotter space?
I’ guess a ceiling fan is not set up so much to do that ( more to circulate and mix the air within a space.. But perhaps there are circumstances where it would serve that function..
I live in Hawaii and there is noticeable effect once the air cools in the evening, for instance

Sounds pretty zen to me: if a ceiling fan is on and no one is around….

Good advice. I like the setting the thermostat higher and using fans…but I’ll have to turn off the fans off more frequently!
