I have seen something similar in SE Georgia. The nailing pattern required by local inspectors for the sheeting (and the hurricane clips) in effect perforate the sheeting and the studs. I have seen a roofer snap off the end of the rafters where the clips are attached.

I think this a new Tyvek combo wall sheathing/house wrap product. From a structural standpoint it probably also makes for a great shear wall.

Do you think those cool looking wood stud vertical louvers will provide enough ventilation to meet the new ASHRAE standards?

It amazes me that we don’t require better building standards; green building should be mandated! We know better, we should build better!

Studs are a higher R-value than an insulated wall. This is not a good reason for using more wood.

I vote for the contractor and everyone involved in this project be required to go to a Building Science course (6 months minimal) and then be required to fix this correctly at their own cost. Or pay the utility bills and a pollution fine for the next 20 years for this building.

I know this sounds harsh, not as harsh and the possibility of this place we call earth becoming non supporting of human life,

Maybe they decided if you put the studs close enough together you don’t need sheathing.

This is one of the funniest and most unfortunate construction pictures I have ever seen. At first I thought that the OSB was cut into vertical strips and it was so humid inside the OSB was peeling back like a banana peel. This is even worse. #sequencingfail
